A STRONG BODY STARTS WITH A STRONG MIND

Rest and Recovery

It is easy to understand the importance of a training program and how it will improve your performance, strength and overall health. However, rest and recovery are just as important as a proper training program. Rest and recovery allow the body to repair and strengthen its three main systems: Structural, hormonal, and neurological systems. Professional sports teams, olympic teams, college athletics, and strength coaches have been exploring ways to assist their athletes recovery for decades. Today, we know that hydration, nutrition, and rest are key. This doesn’t just go for athletes… as a matter of fact it’s even more critical for adults as we age.

There are two main types of recovery: active and passive. Both are beneficial to the progress of anyone’s performance and recovery.

ACTIVE RECOVERY

  • Performing low-intensity physical activity after a workout to promote faster healing and reduce muscle soreness. It increases blood flow, helps clear lactic acid, and prevents stiffness without causing further fatigue.

  • Gentle movements for better circulation aiding in recovery, advanced foam rolling and myofascial release techniques, mobility stretching and mindful cardio.

    PASSIVE RECOVERY‍ ‍

  • Passive recovery is resting for a long time after strenuous exercise or activities. A passive recovery period emphasizes quiet and inactivity - helps boost muscle recovery, aids the lymphatic system, and reduces the risk of injury.

  • This includes getting enough sleep, nutrition, and physiotherapeutic techniques like ice bath, massage therapy, infrared sauna, and other therapies.

All of our programs at Elevate come with a comprehensive Recovery program including active and passive techniques. You will have access to our on site infrared sauna, Aqua Massage Therapy - along with mobility and flexibility stretching with our expert coaches.

We also utilize our partnerships with local massage therapy and yoga studios for even deeper and more advanced recovery options. These partnerships allow us to help our clients take advantage of discounts so we can continue to improve your health and elevate your performance.

Nutrition & Recovery

We all want to get the most out of our training programs - put on muscle, lose or put on weight, and elevate our overall health and performance. Going into our training sessions well nourished is critical but even more importantly, re-fueling our bodies after training. Nutrition and Supplementation is the single most important extension of recovery outside of sleep.

Proper fueling before and after workouts is essential to provide energy, reduce muscle soreness, and prevent common sports injuries such as an achilles tendon strain. Eating protein-rich foods and quality fat post-activity supports recovery and strength.

We know that maintaining a proper diet can be difficult and no one wants to create an unhealthy relationship with food. At Elevate Fitness & Performance, we will provide our athletes, adults, and even our young kids with the right programs and education to improve and elevate their nutrition. We will create a structured and manageable plan that is individualized so we can ensure that this part of our program doesn't derail our progress.
